Circumcision Ain't a Requirement for Salvation

Updated: Jul 20, 2021

"And they supported me and did not even demand that my companion Titus be circumcised, though he was a Gentile"

~Galatians 1:3 NLT

Aren't you glad you are under the New Covenant also known as The Way of Faith, it matters naught whether you are circumcised or not. I don't know about you but I'm glad. Because imagine if you grew up in an area where circumcision isn't practiced/ performed like in some African countries, what would become of you? Since the law required one to be circumcised.

Circumcision was required under the law. Jesus once even stressed just how serious the Jews considered it in John 7:23.

For if the correct time for circumcising your son falls on the Sabbath, you go ahead and do it so as not to break the law of Moses. So why should you be angry with me for healing a man on the Sabbath? ~ John 7:23 NLT

The Pharisees who required that people obey the law perfectly, when the day for circumcising their children happened to be on the Sabbath, they actually carried it out. Mind you, the Pharisees were all about people doing no work, whether good or evil on the sabbath day. Hence, we see Jesus Christ exposing their hypocrisy in various instances.

I love coming across bible verses about all these things that don't matter anymore because it goes to show just how free salvation is. It shows what a great job Jesus Christ did on the cross! No person can be more saved than another simply because of their own works. May our appreciation for all that Jesus has accomplished for us ever be at the forefront of our minds. May we have no confidence whatsoever in our own human efforts, may we never place our faith in that, but rather place all our faith in Jesus Christ.
