Transitioning from University life to workplace life

Updated: Nov 23, 2020

Unlike most people, when I was a child, my dream was to remain a child for as long as possible. I grew up seeing how challenging life becomes the older you get. As much as I tried to delay growing up, it was futile. Time doesn't stand still. Years come and go, I saw my life go by so fast, one minute I am preparing to get into high school, the next, I am working my dream job at one of the best companies.

Its like my varsity years were actually a year instead of four whole years. Work life has its own challenges. Sometimes I like to think of my salary as my reward for soldering on!

Unlike high school or varsity where you can avoid difficult people, be it students, lecturers, at the workplace there's literally nowhere to run. You have to face and deal with difficult people head on! nice right (note the sarcasm). Yes, challenges are a great ways for one to improve their character and personality, but man! wouldn't life be sweeter without challenges!

The scripture that I always refer to during such trying times is;

Count it all joy when you go through divers temptations/trials. ~ James 1:2

There's a good reason why God said to consider it all joy when we face challenges. to show us its possible for our joy to have its roots in him, and not on the varying situations we encounter. Our joy should come from within, not on what's happening in the physical. The mere fact that our names are registered in Heaven is enough to cause us to have joy for days.
