False Prophets? no! False brethren.

Updated: Oct 7, 2020

"Even that question came up only because of some so-called believers there—false ones, really—who were secretly brought in. They sneaked in to spy on us and take away the freedom we have in Christ Jesus. They wanted to enslave us and force us to follow their Jewish regulations. But we refused to give in to them for a single moment. We wanted to preserve the truth of the gospel message for you."

~Galatians 2:4&5 NLT

I am pretty sure we have all heard and know about 'False prophets' :) but guess what? the bible actually also addresses false brethren! like! what! false who?

Yes false believers. Yes Paul shows us there is such a thing as false brethren but as God's children that doesn't necessarily mean we should become 'false Christian' detectors and start analyzing all Christians we meet. One thing interesting to note about these false brethren is that one of their main aims was/is to;

~ enslave believers and force them to obey the Jewish regulations and take away their freedom in Christ.

Aren't you glad you are free in Christ? I know I am. Colossians 2:16 says;

"So don't let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths."

I believe one of the reasons we instructed to 'not let anyone' is because people will try to condemn us and enslave us, but we shouldn't give in to them even for a slight second. We started our Christian walk in faith, lets continue therein.

"It’s true that we can’t win God’s approval by what we eat. We don’t lose anything if we don’t eat it, and we don’t gain anything if we do." ~ 1 Corinthians 8:8 NLT

Salvation is a free gift. We cannot earn it with our good acts. Jesus' death and resurrection did a complete job. We are saved by placing our faith in him. Believing he has done all he did, for us. Hallelujah!
