"But even before I was born, God chose me and called me by his marvelous grace. Then it pleased him to reveal his Son to me so that I would proclaim the Good News about Jesus to the Gentiles. When this happened, I did not rush out to consult with any human being."
~Galatians 1:15-17 NLT
I am that person who really loves the bible verses where the author is making declarations! I just love how the Apostle Paul was so conscious of who he was because of Christ. In his statement we can see he was fully convinced he is;
~ called
~ chosen
He didn't earn the call or to be chosen, he acknowledges all this was done by God's marvelous grace! Same applies to us, we are chosen and called. The fact that the Apostle didn't rush into telling the world that he had received direct revelation from Christ himself shows a great deal of humility. Instead of going to announce to the other Apostles about his revelation from Christ, he choose to wait for God's timing. This takes me back to the story of King David, how he continued with his normal shepherding job, until the best time came.
There's a famous saying, "Good things come to those who wait", I like the saying to a certain extent, not necessarily to promote laziness but to encourage you that waiting for God's green light is something we should cultivate in our daily lives.
The fact that Paul not only knew his identity but also his mission is awe-inspiring. He knows why God chose him, so he could preach the Good News to the gentiles. May we be courageous about our identity in Christ and confident in the gifts he has given us. May we trust his perfect timing! There is no one best at strategic planning than our God.
